Traditional analytical methods are focused on one particular type of molecule (chemotype) such as a small molecule drug or a large molecule protein or peptide. With advances in LC-MS technology, it is now practical to multiplex various chemotypes in a single assay. Such multiplexing of different chemotypes, or chemoplexing, permits analysis of complete biological systems from a single sample using a single LC-MS method.
